VIII ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION
November 1 - 22, 2006
The
Art Group of the OAS Staff
Association has
the pleasure to announce the VIII Annual Art Exhibition which will take place
from November 1 through November 22, 2006. The OAS Staff Association and the
OAS Staff Federal Credit Union are sponsors of this exhibition. The works will
be exhibited at the OAS General Services Building (GSB) located on 1889 F
Street, at the corridors of the lobby and terrace levels. The official opening
will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at 6:00 p.m.
The conditions are as
follows:
Participants: Current and ex-staff members of the General Secretariat of the OAS
(both at headquarters and away from headquarters) and their relatives; members
of the diplomatic corps (of OAS member and observer countries) accredited to the
OAS and to the White House and their relatives; OAS Staff Credit Union members
and their relatives; and persons working for the General Secretariat under a
performance contract (CPR).
For this purpose, eligible relatives of those persons are only their spouses,
children, siblings, parents and grandchildren of retirees.
Categories: Works will be selected in two categories: (a) Art (which includes
paintings –in any medium or
combination of media–, drawings,
engravings, photographs, and sculptures); and (b) plastic art expressions of
children under 12 years of age (drawings, paintings, constructions, etc., made
by children who are under the age of 12 as of November 1, 2006).
Presentation: All works shall be presented ready to be exhibited. Drawings
(including children’s drawings), paintings, engravings and photographs must be
framed or painted on their edges and ready for hanging. Sculptures shall be
presented with a base that ensures their support. Works shown in any of the
previous exhibitions cannot be resubmitted.
Number of works: A maximum of three works per artist can be submitted in each of
the categories, provided that the total number of works submitted by each staff
member or ex-staff member and his/her dependents is six or less. Depending on
the number of participants, the limit to the number of pieces per participant
may be revised.
Dimensions: A maximum size may be established on the basis of space
availability.
Selection: The Art Group avails itself of the right to exclude entry to those
art works which in our opinion are offensive or obscene.
Date and place for submitting works: Works to be submitted shall be delivered
to the Staff Association office (1889 F Street, NW office 347A) on Friday,
October 27 or Monday, October 30, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from
2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the corresponding registration form and a check
drawn to the “OAS Staff Association Art Group” to cover the registration fee.
Incomplete forms will not be accepted. Participants who will be out of town
during these dates should make arrangements directly with the Administrator of
the Staff Association (202-458-6230) to coordinate the receipt before October
27.
Registration fee: The registration fee is US$25.00 per family group if three or
fewer art pieces are submitted, and US$5.00 for each additional work, up to the
maximum of US$40.00 for six pieces; or if you are only submitting artwork by
children under 12, the fee is $15.00.
Exhibition date and place: The exhibition will be open to the public at the OAS/GSB,
1889 F Street, from November 1 through the 22, Monday through Friday from 9:00
a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The exhibition will be mounted at the corridors of the lobby
and terrace levels.
Sale of artwork: As in the past, artists may offer their works for sale. Any
sale will be handled directly between the buyer and the artist, and will be
subject to a 20% commission that the artist will deliver directly to the OAS
Staff Association.
We urge all our colleagues and friends to take part and make of this exhibition
the best so far. We also invite all staff members of OAS, the missions
and observers to the OAS and the embassies to the White House, their friends and
relatives, to visit the exhibition during the time it will be open.

VIII EXPOSICIÓN DE ARTE

El
Grupo de Arte de la
Asociación del Personal de la OEA tiene el agrado de anunciar la
VIII Exposición Anual de Arte, que se llevará a cabo del 1 al 22 de noviembre de
2006. Esta exposición cuenta con el patrocinio de la Asociación del Personal y
la Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito de la OEA. Las obras serán exhibidas en el
Edificio de Servicios Generales de la OEA (GSB) ubicado en la 1889 F St., N.W.,
en los corredores del lobby y nivel terraza. La inauguración oficial será el
miércoles 1 de noviembre a las 6:00 p.m.
Los requisitos para
participar en la Exposición son los siguientes:
Participantes: Podrán participar los funcionarios y ex-funcionarios de la
Secretaría General de la OEA (tanto de la sede, como fuera de la sede) y sus
familiares; los funcionarios del cuerpo diplomático de los Estados miembros y
Observadores Permanentes acreditados ante la OEA o la Casa Blanca y sus
familiares; empleados de la Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito de la OEA y sus
familiares y personas que trabajen en la Secretaría
General de la OEA bajo Contrato por Resultado (CPR).
Para este propósito
califican como familiares de los funcionarios y ex-funcionarios, los cónyuges,
hijos, hermanos, padres y nietos de los retirados.
Categorías: Las obras serán seleccionadas en dos categorías: (a) Arte (que
incluye pinturas –en cualquier medio o combinación de medios, dibujos, grabados,
fotografías y esculturas; y, (b) Expresiones de artes plásticas de menores de
12 años
(dibujos,
pinturas, construcciones, etc., realizadas por niños que no hayan cumplido 12
años al 1 de noviembre de 2006
Presentación: Los trabajos se presentarán listos para ser exhibidos. Los
dibujos (incluyendo dibujos infantiles), pinturas, grabados y fotografías deben
estar enmarcados o pintados en su contorno y listos para colgarse. Las
esculturas se presentarán con una base que asegure su sustento. No se permitirán
obras que hayan sido presentadas en otras exhibiciones de la OEA.
Número de trabajos: Se podrá presentar tres obras por participante como máximo,
en cada una de las tres categorías, siempre que con ello no se exceda de seis en
total por cada funcionario o ex funcionario y sus familiares. Dependiendo del
número de participantes, se podrá revisar el número máximo de trabajos por
participante.
Dimensiones: Se establecerá una medida máxima para las obras, en función de la
disponibilidad de espacio.
Selección: El Grupo de Arte se reserva el derecho de excluir de la exhibición a
aquellas obras que considere ofensivas u obscenas.
Fecha y lugar para recepción de trabajos: Los trabajos deberán ser entregados
en la Oficina de la Asociación del Personal de la OEA (1889 F St., N.W. oficina
347A) los días viernes 27 de octubre o lunes 30 de octubre de 2006,
de 9:00 a.m. a 12:30 p.m. y de 2:30 p.m. a 5:00 p.m.,
con el correspondiente formulario de inscripción y un cheque por concepto de
inscripción, a nombre del “Grupo de Arte de la Asociación del Personal de la
OEA.” No se recibirán obras con formularios de inscripción incompletos. Los
participantes que planeen estar fuera de Washington durante estas fechas,
deberán hacer arreglos directamente con la Administradora de la Asociación del
Personal de la OEA (202-458-6230) para coordinar la entrega de sus obras antes
del 27 de octubre.
Cuota de inscripción: La cuota de inscripción es de US$25.00 por grupo familiar
si se presentan tres obras o menos y US$5.00 por cada obra adicional, hasta un
máximo de US$40.00, ó $15.00 si sólo se presentan obras de artes plásticas de
menores de 12 años.
Fecha y lugar de la exposición: La Exposición estará abierta al público de lunes
a viernes de 9:00 a.m. a 5:30 p.m., del 1 al 22 de noviembre de 2006, en los
corredores del lobby y nivel terraza del GSB, 1889 F St., NW.
Venta de obras: Como se ha hecho anteriormente, los artistas podrán ofrecer sus
trabajos en venta. Cualquier venta se efectuará directamente entre el comprador
y el artista y estará sujeta a una comisión del 20% que el artista deberá
entregar a la Asociación del Personal de la OEA.
Instamos a todos los colegas y amigos a participar en esta Exposición y a
contribuir con su talento artístico y el de sus familiares cercanos al éxito de
la misma. Igualmente, invitamos a todos los funcionarios de la OEA, las
Misiones Permanentes y Observadores ante la OEA y las Embajadas ante la Casa
Blanca, amigos y familiares, a visitar la exposición durante el período que
permanezca abierta.
