GALA Hispanic Theatre and the National Hispanic
Center for the Arts
Needs Your Help
For over 20 years there has
been a close relation between the staff of the OAS and GALA Hispanic
Theatre. Now, GALA is in the last critical months of constructing a new
theater, a National Hispanic Center for the Arts in the Tivoli development
at 14th and Park Streets in Washington, DC. GALA has raised over $2.4
million for the theater, but before the theater opens on January 7, 2005
GALA must raise an additional $800,000.
As part of it’s fundraising,
GALA has “sold” seats in the theater for $2,500 and $5,000 to patrons who
have indicated to whom those seats will be dedicated. Each seat will bear a
plaque with the name or names of those to whom that seat is dedicated. A
number of OAS staff members and former staff members have already purchased
seats.
One of our colleagues, Linda
Poole, wishes to make the following proposal: She will donate $1,250 as a
matching grant and invites OAS staff members to donate amounts that they
are able, which will be matched dollar for dollar. The object is to raise
$2,500 and to purchase a seat, on which the plaque will read:
Staff of the Organization of American States
You can make you donation through account

in the OAS Credit Union.
