Meeting with the Secretary General
The Staff Committee wishes
to inform all members of the Staff Association that, at the invitation of
the Secretary General, the Committee met with Dr. Rodríguez on Wednesday,
September 15, 2004, at 4:00 p.m.
The Secretary General
discussed the financial crisis facing the Organization, briefly presented
the measures recently taken to address the crisis, and requested the help
of the staff to overcome the budget deficit.
The Committee carefully
listened to Dr. Rodríguez’s presentation and informed him that it would
consult with the staff regarding his proposal and that any decision
regarding this matter would require the approval of the staff.
The Secretary General shared
the same information with the entire staff during his meeting with them on
the morning of September 16, 2004.
The Staff Committee will
hold a special assembly as soon as it has sufficient information on the
implications of the Secretary General’s request.
