Ayuda a damnificados del azotador invierno en Colombia
Desde hace varios meses Colombia ha sufrido las drásticas consecuencias de un azotador invierno producido por el ya conocido fenómeno de La Niña. Durante las últimas semanas las lluvias se han intensificado notablemente y el futuro no es muy prometedor. A la fecha más de 1.5 millones de personas han quedado damnificadas, 561 municipios se encuentran en estado de emergencia y de los 32 departamentos que tiene Colombia, 28 han sido declarados en calamidad pública. Los sistemas de acueducto y alcantarillado parecen haber colapsado ante la lluvia inclemente, y el pronóstico es preocupante. Las autoridades anunciaron que el invierno seguirá hasta el final del año.
Hoy pedimos la colaboración especial de todo el personal para realizar algún aporte a la cuenta de la Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito de los empleados de la OEA, número 600-663 y así colaborar con un grano de arena para aliviar el sufrimiento de todas aquellas personas damnificadas por el invierno en Colombia.
El dinero recaudado será donado a la Cruz Roja Colombiana, quienes desde el primer momento han venido trabajando arduamente para ayudar a quienes han sufrido las severas consecuencias del fenómeno de La Niña.

Help to victims of the harsh winter in Colombia
For many months now, Colombia has been suffering the consequences of a very harsh winter as a result of the well know phenomenon of La Niña. During the last few weeks the rains have intensified and the outlook for the next few months is not promising. Over 1.5 million people have suffered damages, 561 municipalities are in a state of emergency and 28 out of the 38 departments of Colombia have been declared disaster areas. The aqueduct and sewer systems have collapsed due to the inclement weather and the forecasts are a cause for concern. The authorities have announced that this winter will last until the end of this year.
Today we are asking staff members to contribute to relief efforts by donating to the account 600-663 in the OAS Staff Federal Credit Union. Your donations will help relieve the suffering of those affected by the winter storms in Colombia.
The contributions will be sent to the Colombian Red Cross, an institution who has been working indefatigably since the crisis began to help those who have suffered the severe consequences of La Niña.
