Excellency Ambassador Paya,
I have the honor to address you on behalf of the personnel of the Organization of American States (OAS), representing all members of the OAS Staff Association, in order to express and share in the feelings of joy and delight that overcame your countrymen and women on the occasion of the rescue of the thirty-three (33) miners that were trapped for 69 das in the San Jose Mine, in Copiapo, Chile.
Together with the rest of the world, we have closely followed the developments, and our thoughts have been with the trapped miners, their families, rescuers, the Government of Chile, and in general with the people of Chile.
We would like, through you, to send this message to each and every one of the rescued miners, their families, your government and the Chilean people. The creativity, effort, perseverance, faith and joining of purposes during the development of this event have made all of us feel proud. Chile, its miners and its people have been a true example, and what began as a tragedy has ended with a large celebration that we all feel like we are a part of.
Allow me to take advantage of this opportunity to reiterate to you the assurances of my highest and most distinguished consideration.
