DISCUSSION ON U.S. IMMIGRATION ISSUES AND RELATED TOPICS
Taking into account the importance of the subject for the employees and their family members as well as for people who work in the organization under different contract modalities, the OAS Staff Association is pleased to invite you to a discussion on U.S. Immigration issues and related topics.
Sponsored by the OAS Staff Association, the discussion will be led by Dr. Ignacio J. Alvarez, founder of the Alvarez Martinez Law Firm LLC, member of the DC Lawyers Bar, of the American Bar Association (ABA) and of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Previously, Dr. Alvarez was also an OAS employee for eleven years and was a member of the Staff Association.
The topics to be discussed will include:
· Requisites, process and ideal moment to change your G-4 visa status to that of permanent resident.
· The difference of requisites concerning family members.
· Migration and fiscal impact of the change.
· How do you keep or lose your permanent resident status?
· Benefits of citizenship versus permanent residence.
The OAS Staff Association has also invited representatives of the Department of Human Resources and Department of Legal Services to the discussion.

CHARLA SOBRE ASUNTOS INMIGRATORIOS ESTADOS UNIDOS Y TEMAS RELACIONADOS
La Asociación del Personal de la OEA, tomando en cuenta la importancia del tema para los empleados/as y sus familiares, así como para personas que trabajan para la organización bajo diversas modalidades contractuales, se complace en invitar a una charla sobre asuntos de inmigración de Estados Unidos y temas relacionados.
La charla, patrocinada por la Asociación del Personal, será dictada por el Dr. Ignacio J. Alvarez, fundador de Alvarez Martinez Law Firm LLC, miembro de la barra de abogados de DC, del American Bar Association (ABA) y del American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Previamente, el Dr. Alvarez fue empleado de la OEA por once años, y formó parte de la Asociación de Personal.
Los temas a tratar incluirán:
· Requisitos, proceso y oportunidad ideal del cambio de estatus de visa G-4 a residente permanente.
· Diferencia de requisitos respecto a los familiares.
· Impacto migratorio y fiscal del cambio.
· ¿Cómo se mantiene y cómo se pierde el estatus de residente permanente?
· Ventajas de la ciudadanía respecto a la residencia permanente.
· La Asociación del Personal ha invitado a la charla a representantes del Departamento de Recursos Humanos y del Departamento de Asesoría Legal de la OEA.
