TERREMOTO en HAITÍ -
CONTRIBUCIÓN PARA ALIVIAR LOS DAÑOS
El
Comité del Personal expresa su solidaridad con todos los
funcionarios afectados por el desastre natural ocurrido esta semana
en la ciudad de Puerto Príncipe, Haití, con resultados
devastadores. Aunque aún no es posible precisar los daños, las
noticias recibidas indican que miles de personas han sufrido graves
heridas, perdido sus vidas, o sus hogares.
Hemos sido informados de que la Secretaría General ha desplegado
esfuerzos para localizar a un total aproximado de 117 personas
vinculadas a la OEA en Haití, pero lamentablemente aún no tiene
noticias ciertas sobre ellos. En estos momentos tan tristes,
acompañamos los sentimientos de los sobrevivientes, familiares de
fallecidos, desaparecidos, y todos los habitantes del país.
Con
el propósito de apoyar a nuestros compañeros afectados por esta
tragedia, se ha abierto la cuenta No. 500663 – OAS HAITI FAMILY
FUND en la Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito de la OEA. Los fondos
que se recauden serán reforzados por el Fondo de Emergencias de la
Fundación Leo Rowe. Instamos al personal de la Secretaría General
a realizar sus donaciones a dicha cuenta, que se utilizará
directamente para aliviar en alguna medida las necesidades más
apremiantes del personal afectado o de sus familiares.
EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI - CONTRIBUTIONS
TO EASE THE DAMAGES
The Staff Committee extends its solidarity with all staff affected
by the natural disaster that occurred this week in the city of Port
au Prince, Haiti, with devastating results. While it is currently
impossible to determine the damage, the information received
indicates that thousands of people have suffered serious injuries,
lost their lives or their homes.
We have been informed that the General Secretariat is making
efforts to locate the approximately 117 persons working with the
OAS in Haiti, but unfortunately, as of now, precise information is
not available. In these sad moments, we empathize with survivors,
relatives of those lost and of all Haitian citizens.
In
order to support our colleagues affected by this tragedy, the OAS
Staff Association has opened account No. 500663 - HAITI OAS FAMILY
FUND at the Federal Credit Union. The funds collected will be
reinforced by the Emergency Fund of the Foundation Leo Rowe. We
urge the General Secretariat staff to make donations to that
account; the funds collected will be used directly to relieve the
most pressing needs of the staff in Haiti and their relatives.
