The OAS LGBTQI Group is pleased to invite you to the
commemoration of International Day against Homophobia and
Transphobia (IDAHOT)
Conversations on violence
against lesbian, Thursday May 14 – 1 to 2 pm Salon Rubén Darío, 8th Floor (GSB Building – 1889 F
Street NW) The event will show two audiovisual and artistic
documentaries which will frame an open discussion, question and answer
period. We will be joined by: 1. Carlos Quesada, an expert on topics related to the human rights of
LGBTI persons in the region. 2. Betilde V.
Muñoz-Pogossian, Acting Director
of the Department of Social Inclusion The International
Day against Homophobia and Transphobia (“IDAHOT”) is celebrated every year on
May 17 to mark the landmark occasion of the removal of homosexuality from the
list of mental illnesses by the World Health Organization (WHO) on May 17,
1990. This is an
opportunity to reflect and bring awareness to the violence and discrimination
suffered by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and intersex persons
