The Staff Committee has the pleasure of
referring to the Secretary General’s message to the staff of February 3,
2015. In that regard, the Staff
Committee wishes to advise that for reasons concerning the health of a family
member the President of the Staff Association had to schedule a trip abroad
from February 5 to 14. In deference to the Secretary General and his office,
the President encouraged the Committee to attend the meeting on Thursday,
February 5, at 11:00 a.m., as planned. However, the members of the Staff
Committee decided by an absolute majority to inquire with the Office of the
Secretary General about the possibility of postponing the meeting until the
President’s return. In the event that such a change was not feasible, the
meeting would go ahead as scheduled, with the Vice President and the rest of
the Committee attending.
Regarding the meeting that had been
scheduled for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on October 27, 2014, in that instance the
Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Ambassador Hugo
de Zela, announced that he would be unable to meet with the Staff Committee
because the Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Affairs was to convene
that day from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in order to approve the changes to the
General Standards to Govern the Operations of the General Secretariat, as the
OAS meetings calendar attests. Yesterday afternoon the President
contacted the Secretary General to clear up the confusion prompted by the
inquiry regarding a possible change of date. Further, the Secretary General
asked the President to contact his office to set up a new date for the
meeting. El Comité del Personal tiene el agrado de referirse a la comunicación del
Secretario General del día 3 de febrero de 2015 dirigida a los funcionarios. Al respecto, el Comité del Personal cumple en informar que, por
cuestiones relacionadas a la salud de un familiar, la Presidenta de la
Asociación del Personal debió programar un viaje al exterior del 5 al 14 de
febrero. Por deferencia a la persona del Secretario General y a la
investidura que representa, la Presidenta alentó al Comité a asistir a la
reunión del jueves 5 de febrero a las 11:00 a.m., tal como se había acordado.
Sin embargo, los miembros del Comité del Personal por mayoría absoluta
acordaron consultar con la Oficina del Secretario General la posibilidad de
posponer la reunión hasta el regreso de la Presidenta. De no ser factible el
cambio, la fecha de la reunión se mantendría y la Vicepresidenta asistiría a
la reunión junto con el resto del Comité.
Con respecto a la reunión que se había programado para el día 27 de
octubre de 2014 de 3:30 a 5:30 p.m., fue el Jefe de Gabinete del Secretario
General, Embajador Hugo de Zela, quien informó que no podría reunirse con el
Comité del Personal visto que ese día el Comité de Asuntos Administrativos y
Presupuestarios se reunía de 2:30 a 5:30 p.m. para aprobar los cambios a las
Normas Generales para el Funcionamiento de la Secretaría General, según
consta en el calendario de reuniones de la OEA. Ayer por la tarde, la Presidenta se comunicó con el Secretario General a
fin de aclarar la confusión que suscitó la consulta acerca de un posible
cambio de fecha. Asimismo, el Secretario General solicitó a la Presidenta que
se ponga en contacto con su Oficina para acordar una nueva fecha para la
audiencia. |
