Did you know that OAS regulations prohibit staff members from accepting honors, awards, remuneration, favors and gifts?
OAS regulations prohibit staff members from accepting honors, awards, remuneration, favors or gifts when, in the opinion of the Secretary General, this is incompatible with their status as an international civil servants or with the interests of the Organization.
Article 32 of the General Standards establishes:
§ No staff member shall render services to any government or entity under conditions other than those specifically approved by the Secretary General.
§ No staff member may accept a decoration from any government.
§ Neither may he/she accept honors, awards, remuneration, favors, or gifts when, in the opinion of the Secretary General, this is incompatible with his status as an international civil servant or with the interests of the Organization. […]
Also, Section V F. of the Code of Ethics mentions that:
§ Staff Members must not accept a decoration from any government.
§ Staff Members must not accept honors, awards, remuneration, favors, or gifts from any government if the Secretary General believes that such honors, etc., are incompatible with their status as international civil servants or with the interests of the OAS.
§ Staff Members must not accept any gratuity or favor from any commercial firm or individual doing or seeking to do business with GS/OAS, or any government. […]

Las regulaciones de la Organización prohíben a los funcionarios aceptar premios y gratificaciones, favores y obsequios cuando a juicio del Secretario General, resulte incompatible con su condición de funcionario internacional o con los intereses de la Organización.
El Artículo 32 de las Normas Generales establece:
§ Ningún miembro del personal prestará sus servicios a gobiernos o entidades en condiciones que no sean específicamente aprobadas por el Secretario General.
§ Ningún miembro del personal podrá aceptar condecoraciones de gobiernos.
§ Tampoco podrá aceptar honores, premios, gratificaciones, favores u obsequios cuando, a juicio del Secretario General, ello resulte incompatible con su condición de funcionario internacional o con los intereses de la Organización. […]
Asimismo la Sección V literal F del Código de ética, menciona:
§ Los Miembros del Personal no deberán aceptar condecoraciones de ningún gobierno.
§ Los Miembros del Personal no deberán aceptar honores, premios, gratificaciones, favores u obsequios de ningún gobierno si el Secretario General considera que tales honores, etc., son incompatibles con su condición de funcionario internacional o con los intereses de la OEA.
§ Los Miembros del Personal no deberán aceptar gratificaciones ni favores de personas o firmas comerciales que tengan o busquen negocios con la SG/OEA o cualquier gobierno. […]
